Kazan: historical and unusual sights of the city

Every year, thousands of tourists from various cities and countries visit Kazan. This is not surprising, because this city is a real decoration of the Volga region and the pride of Russia. It regularly hosts interesting events, exhibitions, competitions, so everyone will find something to do. In addition, it is in Kazan that there are many attractions rich in their history. We have prepared a list of the main ones that are worth seeing even if you arrived just for a day.

Kazan Kremlin

The main attraction of the city can rightly be called the Kazan Kremlin. This is the main archaeological complex, which contains historical monuments of the XII-XX centuries. It is amazing how Western and Eastern cultures harmoniously intertwine throughout the whole territory. In addition, it is worth noting that the Kremlin houses the residence of the head of the republic and the government.

Kul Sharif Mosque

On the territory of the Kazan Kremlin is the main mosque of Tatarstan, which was erected in the period 1996-2005. Previously, in its place was an Orthodox mosque, which was destroyed by the troops of Ivan the Terrible. In the modern world, a mosque looks completely different and many call it an architectural masterpiece. The combination of blue domes and white stone looks incredibly beautiful. Therefore, every year tourists come here from various cities and countries.

Palace of Farmers

Unlike many architectural monuments, the palace complex was built not so long ago, namely in the period 2008-2010. Since that time, the Ministry of Agriculture of Tatarstan has been placed in it.

Outwardly, it looks incredibly beautiful and is often compared with Italian and Austrian palaces. However, local residents negatively perceived this building and constantly criticize it. In their opinion, the building is inappropriate and stands out against the background of historical monuments of Kazan. Nevertheless, many tourists want to look at the Palace of Farmers and make memorable photos.

Puppet Theater "Ekiyat"

Unusual, fabulous, magical puppet theater simply can not attract attention. Moreover, Ekiyat is known not only in Kazan, but also far beyond its borders. The building itself is simply amazing with its decoration. Various turrets, stained glass windows, domes and even a sculpture of the Little Prince - all this takes every visitor to his childhood.

By the way, today the puppet theater in Kazan is the largest for children's performances in all of Russia. Therefore, we recommend purchasing tickets for at least one performance. Be sure it will not disappoint you for sure.

Kazan Town Hall

The incredible size of the mansion was erected in the very center of Kazan in the distant 1854. It was created specifically for the Noble Assembly, where balls, concerts, social receptions and even elections were held. In addition, it was a favorite meeting place for the Kazan elite. Throughout history, the building was a military hospital, cinema hall, party headquarters, and even a dance floor. And only in 2005 was the restoration of the building.

Today, the city administration is sitting here. In addition, various events are held at the Kazan City Hall, such as conferences and charity evenings.

Temple of All Religions

Guests of the city note a very strange attraction and recommend it for a must visit. It is a famous temple of all religions. Agree, it sounds very unusual. It was built by the forces of the humanist Ildar Khanov, who thus wanted to harmonize the space. For this, all sixteen faiths were united in one territory.Of course, no religious rites are held in the temple. The complex itself carries only symbolic meaning.

National Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan

Absolutely everyone should visit one of the largest museums of the entire Volga region and partly the main museum in Tatarstan. Here are collected about 800 thousand of various exhibits that will tell you about the culture and history, traditions and life of the peoples of Tatarstan. It’s really worth coming here, even if you have only a few hours left. After all, this museum is one of the most interesting and memorable in the whole city.

Family Center "Kazan"

More recently, namely in 2013, a very unusual sight appeared in Kazan - the wedding palace. However, unlike classic buildings, it looks especially original. Indeed, at the top is a huge cauldron, which attracts the attention of tourists. It is interesting that inside there are as many as three halls, made in different styles. The first is a classic hall, the second in the style of the Volga Bulgaria, and the third in the style of the Kazan Khanate. Each of them is interesting in its own way.

By the way, for tourists, the entrance is open. In addition, for a small fee, you can even climb to the observation deck, which offers stunning views. However, you can go to the family center only on days free from registration of marriage.

Chuck Chuck Museum

For true sweet tooth, we recommend visiting the Chuck Chuck Museum. This is one of the national dishes of Tatar cuisine, which many know and love. The museum was opened not so long ago, only in 2014 at the initiative of the spouses Dmitry Polosin and Ravshana Suleymanova. In the same year, he became the winner in the nomination “Discovery of the Year 2014”, and travelers immediately began to add it to their “must see” list.

The tour itself takes place in the format of a soulful conversation about the traditions of the people and national dishes. Well, in the end, a tea ceremony is held for visitors in combination with a tasting of the famous chak-chak and other sweets.

Kazan is definitely worth a visit for everyone, and it doesn’t matter at what time of the year. It is an amazing city with a rich history and magnificent views. Therefore, if you are still in doubt, feel free to purchase tickets, book accommodation and go to meet adventures and new knowledge. Be sure that this trip will definitely be remembered for a lifetime.
