Evgenia Medvedeva: the story of the victory of the young figure in 2018

Evgenia Medvedeva, despite her young age, has already managed to achieve a lot on the ice. She is rightly called one of the most powerful single skaters in the world. Among her achievements are victories in Russian and world figure skating championships.

2018 Olympics

2018 for Eugenia began more than successfully. At the first Olympics in her life, which was held this year in South Korea, she, speaking with her short program in the team competition, immediately set a world record with the maximum number of points - 81.06. Her previous record (80.85 points) Zhenya received last year during a speech at the championship in Tokyo.

However, according to the results of the competition in single skating, Medvedev was able to become only the second, having let her compatriot and friend Alina Zagitova forward. However, Zhenya herself was not upset and called the victory of Zagitova quite deserved.

The girl commented on her performance on a social network as follows: “Going out on the ice, I felt like a real Karenina. I wanted to leave myself here all. And I did it ... ".

At the closing ceremony of the Olympics, a performance of the cult Korean band EXO was scheduled. As it turned out, Zhenya really likes this team, so she did not miss the opportunity to personally communicate with her idols. Later, she admitted that she generally loves Asian music, in particular the soundtracks for Japanese films.

Schedule skater for the season 2018-2019

Eugenia’s schedule of performances is quite tight, so the athlete has no time to relax. In the new season, the skater plans to perform at:

  • The grand prix tournament, which will begin on October 19, 2018. Medvedeva has only positive impressions associated with this competition, since she managed to win them twice.
  • Russian Championship - competitions will be held in December 2018. Eugene twice became the champion of the country, but she still had to miss the last tournament due to an injury.
  • European Championship - competitions are scheduled for January 21-27, 2019. This time the competition will be held in Belarus. Since the competition will be held almost at home, Zhenya has a high chance of winning. Moreover, twice she already became the European champion and once won silver, losing the championship to her rival and friend Alina Zagitova.
  • March 24, 2019 the World Figure Skating Championships will be held. This competition is often compared to the Olympics, so here only the best of the best will come out on the ice. Therefore, there is no doubt that Evgeny can be seen on ice. Twice Medvedev has already become the world champion. Maybe she will once again be able to rise to the highest step of the pedestal.

How it all began

Zhenya was born in 1999 in Moscow. Her dad was doing business, and her mother in the past was a figure skater herself. Therefore, when she had a daughter, she immediately realized that she certainly must also be sent to the figure skating section. And as soon as the baby was 3 years old, her mother took her to engage in Lyubov Yakovleva. But soon the coach went on maternity leave and the girl began to deal with Elena Selivanova.

Classes brought the girls a real pleasure, so she never even thought about stopping her classes. And this despite the fact that the training was difficult and exhausting. Eugene recalls that in her childhood she did not even have time to play in the yard with her friends, she was in a hurry to work out all the time.

When the girl was 8 years old, her mother decided to take her to the then-famous coach Eteri Tutberidze, who immediately saw her young talent. Here Medvedev met her rivals Lipnitskaya and Zagitova, with whom she later became friends.

Medvedeva was engaged with her characteristic enthusiasm and already at age 12 was included in the list of members of the national team of the Russian Federation, and at 13 she was allowed to participate in the competition among juniors.

In 2015, an athlete from a youth group is transferred to an adult, where she immediately begins to win one award after another.

She keeps her skates, in which Zhenya first won the world title, at home in a special glass case. But only a select few can look at them.

Hobbies of Medvedeva

Eugene is crazy about Japan and everything connected with this country. The girl loves Japanese anime, so even one of her performances, the skater made in the image of Sailormoon. In the country of the rising sun, they also love the Russian athlete and are even called the affectionate nickname Medo-chan.

On Instagram Medvedeva you can see a lot of anime spoilers drawn by her. The girl is fond of drawing, but she herself admits that she does not have enough free time for this hobby.

In clothes, she prefers casual and country style. Therefore, she has a whole collection of various jeans that she prefers to wear with hoodies. Like any girl, she has designer dresses and shoes. But she has nowhere to wear them, because she does not like nightclubs and noisy parties, preferring to spend time at home in complete solitude.

The girl loves to read and prefers the works of Conan Doyle, Freeman and Cumberbatch.

Secrets of Success

What is the secret of this young athlete? First of all, Eugene herself is convinced that to win, one must go on the ice absolutely calm.

She does not worry about her physical form, as she admits that she is completely indifferent to sweets. And this is not because cakes and pastries are contraindicated for the skaters, she just doesn’t like cream and chocolate icing. The only thing she can afford is high-quality milk chocolate.

Many athletes turn to massage therapists or psychologists who help them restore mental balance, but Medvedev is not one of them. The girl prefers to cope alone with all her emotional experiences.

As for her personal life, then, according to Zhenya herself, there is absolutely no time and she calls her dog Jerry her only friend.
