The life story of the legendary musician Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury is one of the best musicians of the twentieth century. A man who truly loved his life and appreciated all the people present in it.

The childhood of the future musician

Farrukh Balsara, better known as Freddie Mercury, was born in 1946 in one of the cities of Zanzibar, in Tanzania. Bomi, his father, worked at the Supreme Court of Wales and England as a cashier. He made quite good money by the standards of the time, so his family had no problems with income. At the age of 5, Farrukh and his family moved to Bombay. In the same year he was sent to one of the boarding schools, which is located near the largest Indian city. At the boarding school, he manifests himself as a diligent student, begins to get involved in sports sections and creativity. At the same time, he finds a new hobby - music. His first muse was the famous Bollywood artist Mengeshkar Lata. A little later, Farrukh begins to “lose his head” from rock and roll. The future star takes a pseudonym - Freddy.

When the boy was 13 years old, his family again moved to another city. This time to London. Already here, Farrukh graduates from high school, and in 1965 enters the famous Ealing College. There he begins to study painting, design, and even does a little bit of ballet. At that time, his idols were Rudolf Nureyev and Jimmy Hendrix. He devoted his dissertation to the works of the latter.

The creation of the legendary Queen

At his college, Freddie met one Liverpool group called Ibex. 10 days after meeting, Freddy already knows by heart all the songs of the group. A talented musician very quickly replenishes their song list with his written lyrics. At the same time, he goes to his very first concert, which was organized in Bolton as part of the blues festival. The concert was very successful, but, despite this, the group breaks up. The reason for this is that most of the members of the group returned to college.

In 1970, when Freddy was 24, he joined the youth rock band The Smile. Members of this group were Brian May and Roger Taylor. The following year, a bass player who was named John Deacon joins them. It was in this composition that the legendary twenty-year history of the Queen group began.

The name of the group was proposed by Farrukh himself. When the group was already fully formed, Freddy drew their famous symbol. It was based on the British coat of arms and images of the zodiac signs of all members of the group: cancer, a virgin and two lions.

Freddy played a major role in the creation and formation of the group. He wrote many songs, for example, “We Are The Champions”, “Love Of My Life” and the most famous - “Bohemian Rhapsody”. A few years later, “We Are The Champions” becomes the anthem of many sports fans.

Personal life of Farrukh Balsar

In 1970, Freddie Mercury begins a long romance with Mary Austin. The girl is introduced to them by one of her best friends, Brian May. Mary worked for a long time at the manager's Biba store. At that time, this store was a place where all young people often gathered. Their relationship lasted for more than 7 years. At the same time, there are rumors about Freddie's gay sexual orientation.

One of the English newspapers The Sun published an interview in which Freddie Mercury allegedly declared his bisexuality. The singer himself gave only one comment, calling it all a lie and slander. However, in 1977, the singer himself admits that he is bisexual. Such a statement shocked his girlfriend, Mary. After a while, fans of the group find out that Freddie had an affair with the director of one of the recording studios. Despite this, Mercury was able to maintain his close friendship with Mary.

The singer often said that he considered the girl literally not only his wife, but also his closest friend. Freddy became godmother for one of her children when she married another man. Freddie Mercury dedicated the famous song “Love Of My Life” to Mary Austin. In 1985, the singer begins a relationship with Jim Hutton, who worked as a hairdresser. Their relationship continued until the death of the singer. Jim was with Freddy all the time.

Incurable disease

The first rumors about Freddy's disease appeared in 1986. Queen members disproved them every time they interviewed them. An official statement was made by Freddy himself the day before his death. The singer had AIDS. All this time, the closest people were next to him: relatives, friends and his young man. Jim has been with him for 6 years. He spent the last days and minutes of his life with Jim. After the death of the legendary artist, Jim Hatton releases his memoirs Mercury and Me, after which he leaves for Ireland, where he himself was born. After 15 years, he dies of lung cancer.

Last days and death

Freddie Mercury dies November 24, 1991. The cause is his illness (bronchial pneumonia), which progressed against AIDS. Freddie himself felt that he would soon leave this world. In his will, he gave his rights to the song “Bohemiam Rhapsody” and all the income that Freddie had after the release of the song to one of the funds to fight this terrible disease - AIDS. Almost all the savings and the mansion Freddie left to his close friend Mary Austin, and the proceeds from the sale of his songs to his parents and sister. Freddie bequeathed to his young man and assistant 500,000 pounds.

After death, Freddie was cremated, despite the fact that the traditions of the Parses did not support such a procedure. It was only in 2013 that it became known that Freddie’s ashes rest in the London cemetery of Kensal Green.

Freddie Mercury is the most legendary person of the twentieth century. Even after the death of Mercury, the Queen group continued to exist for some time. They invited many artists to their performances, such as Robbie Williams, Elton John, Adam Lambert, Paul Rogers. Despite this, the group was unable to find a replacement for Mercury. In 1995, one of the members, John Deacon, decided to leave the group. The legendary words he said turned out to be true: "Freddie Mercury cannot be replaced by anyone."
