How to do shugaring at home?

Smooth skin devoid of vegetation is the dream of every girl. And those who regularly monitor themselves know very well how difficult it is to achieve this. There are many methods for removing hair from the body: from regular shaving to laser hair removal. At the same time, many note that shugaring is the most affordable and effective way. What is it and how does it work?

What is shugaring

Beauticians call shugaring the process of depilation using a special paste, which is made from regular sugar. It turns out that in a similar way the beauties of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece got rid of body hair.

In comparison with other methods of depilation, shugaring has several advantages:

  1. Efficiency. The consistency of sugar paste allows you to capture even very short hairs. A special technique, in which the hairs should be removed in the course of growth, prevents their subsequent ingrowth.
  2. Simplicity and accessibility. Sugar paste can be made independently, because this requires affordable products that are in every kitchen (sugar, water and squeezed lemon juice). And every girl can carry out the procedure without leaving the bathroom.
  3. Security. The procedure does not damage the skin.
  4. Naturalness. Since shugaring paste is made from natural ingredients, the risk of an allergic reaction is minimized.
  5. Long lasting effect. After depilation using the shugaring method, the skin will remain smooth for up to 3 weeks.

How to make Shugaring Paste

Today it is not difficult to buy pasta, but you can also make it yourself if you wish. To do this, you need sugar, water and juice squeezed from lemon in a ratio of 3: 1: 1.

Sugar mix with water and put on low heat. It is important to constantly stir the solution, as it may burn. As soon as the mixture turns golden, you need to check its readiness. To do this, drop 1 drop into a glass of cold water. If the drop is frozen and does not spread, then the mixture is ready. It remains to remove from heat and add the squeezed juice from the lemon, mixing well. The mass should be uniform without grains. After it cools down, you can begin the procedure for removing hairs.

The finished mass can be stored in a tightly closed jar, in a dark, cool place. To use frozen paste later, you can hold it in a water bath or melt in the microwave.

How to do shugaring at home

In order for the procedure to be as effective as possible, you need to properly prepare for it. To do this, spend the day before scrubbing the area where it is supposed to do shugaring. This will help get rid of dead cells and free the ingrown hairs if necessary.

Before the procedure itself, you need to steam the skin. A warm shower is suitable for this. After this, the paste will be able to better cover the hair, penetrating to its bulb. Next, degrease the skin with any alcohol-containing or antiseptic solution. For such purposes, ordinary chlorhexidine is also suitable.

To remove excess moisture, you can use special talcum powder for shugaring or regular baby powder. Although you can find the opinion that after this paste does not adhere well to the skin. Experiment and you will immediately understand how it is more convenient for you to do shugaring.

When the skin is ready, you need to take a small amount of paste, knead it in your hand and apply against hair growth. While holding the skin, sharply pull off the paste layer in the direction of hair growth.

To make the procedure better, small areas of skin should be treated. It is impossible to apply the mixture in the same place more than 3 times, otherwise irritation may occur.

It is possible to carry out shugaring in bandage technique. To do this, you need strips of paper or fabric. In this case, the paste is traditionally applied against the growth of hairs. A strip is applied from above, which, after smoothing, is sharply removed during the growth of hairs. This method can be used during depilation of hands or feet. But under the armpits or in the bikini area, such a method may be uncomfortable.

After removing the hairs, the treated area should be lubricated with special oil after hair removal or any soothing lotion.

Skin care after depilation

The remaining paste on the skin is easy to remove with warm water. The skin needs to be treated with thermal water or an antiseptic solution (Miramistin, Chlorhexidine, etc.). Throughout the day, the skin that has undergone depilation must be protected from sunlight. In addition, you should refuse to visit public bodies of water, swimming pools, baths, etc.

If an inflammatory reaction occurs on the skin after the procedure, you can use Dexpanthenol or another healing ointment.

When sugaring is contraindicated

Despite the fact that the procedure with sugar paste is considered safe, it has some contraindications. Shugaring can not be carried out in such cases:

  1. The presence of abrasions, scratches or other mechanical damage to the skin.
  2. The presence of skin pathologies (psoriasis, dermatitis, furunculosis, etc.).
  3. When any neoplasm appears on the skin, both malignant and benign.
  4. Against the background of a decrease in immunity or with a viral disease.
  5. With diabetes.
  6. In the presence of any pathologies of the cardiovascular system.

Shugaring frequency

A clear answer to this question does not exist, since each is individual. In addition, it all depends on the area being treated. Most often, you have to depilate the legs, the bikini area and the armpits. On average, the procedure here needs to be repeated every 2, maximum 3 weeks.

On the arms, face and back, the hair is thinner, blond and mixed with a fluff. Therefore, they can be processed less frequently. Some may take about 2 months between treatments.
