How to relax in January 2018?

Long before the New Year, many of us consider the weekend calendar when planning our holidays and trips. To make it easier to plan your time, you need to find out how many New Year's holidays the government has prepared for us and on which days they fall?

When will the New Year holidays begin?

Having studied the recommendations of the Ministry of Labor of Russia regarding the postponement of all days off in the coming 2018, we can see how long the New Year holidays this year will be.

We will celebrate the new 2018 year on the night of Sunday to Monday. Thanks to this combination of circumstances, even those who are busy at work with a six-day work schedule will be able to prepare for the upcoming celebration.

Therefore, you can start preparing from Saturday December 30th. It is from this day that the official New Year's weekend will start. They will last until Monday January 8th, which will also be a weekend.

New Year holidays

According to the law proposed by the government, in 2017 New Year's holidays will begin on December 30 and will last until January 8, 2018. This day will be another day off. That is, this year we were allowed to rest for exactly 10 days (in 2017, their duration was 1 day less).

We will work in January 2018 only 17 days out of 31 calendar days. But for the rest we have 14 days.

Weekend transfer

In order to use the working time as rationally as possible, the government adopted a decision on January 6, which, according to the law, is a day off (Saturday) and relates to the New Year holidays, to be postponed to the working day Friday, March 9.

This transfer will not be the only one scheduled for January 2018. Due to the fact that Christmas January 7, which is a public holiday, falls on Sunday, that is, a day off, another shift in the working calendar will be held. In 2018, this day is postponed to Wednesday May 2.

How are such transfers carried out? According to Russian law, if a public holiday falls on a weekend on the calendar (Saturday, Sunday), it is automatically transferred to another date. It can be Monday or some other day (on which one, the government determines).

January holidays

Traditionally, the first day of the New Year is an officially recognized holiday in Russia. From January 2 to 6, the New Year holidays will last. This decision was made by the government.

January 7 - Christmas. This holiday in our country is the second most important (after Easter) Orthodox holiday. Therefore, this day is also recognized as an official day off. The day following it, January 8, was recognized by our government as a day off.

Holidays work

There are certain groups of professions that, according to their work schedule, still have to work even during the official New Year holidays. It is allowed to attract an employee to work on such days if there is an urgent need and the functioning of the organization depends on the completion of urgent work.

In such cases, the employee may be involved in labor activities only with his written consent. Although there are situations when such consent is not required. This is necessary to overcome the consequences of an accident, technological disaster or natural disaster.

If an employee was recalled to work on weekends (including holidays), then payment is made to him, at least twice. As a rule, the exact amount of payment specified in the collective agreement or other document. In addition, such an employee may receive an additional day off at a time convenient for him, but his work will be paid in a single amount.

At first glance, the New Year holidays in Russia are too long. In many other countries, they are much shorter. However, such a tradition in our country has developed historically in the time of Peter the Great, when this holiday began to be celebrated in Russia.
