Acid pedicure. Features of the procedure at home

Beautiful and well-groomed legs are the pride of every girl. And for this it is very important to regularly take care of your heels. Beauticians offer a wide selection of different procedures, thanks to which your feet will always be in perfect condition. One of them is an acid pedicure.

This procedure appeared not so long ago, but has already managed to win its fans. How is acid pedicure different from other types of this procedure and what are its advantages?

The essence of the procedure

Despite the rather frightening name, this procedure is one of the most gentle foot care methods. Its essence lies in applying to the feet of a special solution based on vegetable and fruit acids. These include glycolic and hydroxyacetic acids. They penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and dissolve coarsened areas in a short period of time. After some time, they are easily removed with a regular nail file.

There are no dangerous chemical compounds in the composition of the product. Therefore, it can be safely done to pregnant women, nursing mothers and adolescents. Moreover, the solution not only dissolves the roughened areas, but also slows down the further process of keratinization of tissues. Therefore, it will not be necessary to repeat the procedure as soon as after other types of pedicure.

Advantages and disadvantages of the procedure

Absolutely any cosmetic procedure has certain pros and cons. And acid pedicure was no exception. The main advantage of this procedure is that the solution used is able to penetrate into the deep layers of the epidermis in a short time, gently and at the same time effectively destroying the coarsened areas of the skin. In addition, this type of pedicure has other positive aspects:

  1. The solution contains antioxidants that have a beneficial effect on the skin and have anti-inflammatory properties.
  2. Due to the peculiarity of such a pedicure, any chance of skin injury is eliminated, since neither scrapers nor blades are used for this.
  3. The cost of this procedure is relatively low.
  4. For the procedure, you do not need to steam up the feet, and the solution itself acts very quickly. Therefore, you can save your time.
  5. Comparing it with a remover, it can be noted that the composition of the acid pedicure, which is gentle, therefore, allergic reactions are minimized.
  6. The solution used is quite effective even for very rough skin.

Now you need to talk about the shortcomings of acid manicure. The composition of the solution used contains some chemical components, therefore, the procedure has some limitations. These include the presence on the skin of cracks and other wounds. For example, the presence of a fungus on the feet or weeping corns is a contraindication to its conduct. In addition, before starting the procedure, you should familiarize yourself with the composition of the product. If it has at least one component that you have already experienced an allergic reaction to, then you will have to refuse the procedure.

Independent procedure

Often, girls refuse to conduct a pedicure, citing the lack of free time to visit the salon. With acid pedicures, this problem disappears by itself, since it can easily be carried out independently at home. To do this, just follow the simple instructions:

  1. Before conducting an acid pedicure, you need to carefully examine your feet in order to exclude the presence of any wounds, cracks or calluses on their surface.
  2. Using any available antiseptic, sanitize the skin on the feet.
  3. After this, it is recommended to hold the legs in warm water for 3-5 minutes and again treat with an antiseptic.
  4. Using a cotton swab, disc, or wooden spatula, gently apply a small amount of acid solution to areas with rough skin. It is very important not to use too much solution, otherwise you can cause a burn.
  5. Wrap the legs on top of the legs and leave for 10 minutes.
  6. After the film is removed, the skin should be wiped with a dry cloth, and treat dead skin with a nail file.
  7. After the procedure, you need to apply any nourishing cream to the feet.

Depending on the condition of your legs, it may require more or less amount of the applied product and the time that you need to withstand it on the heels.

It is important to note that the tool that is used to conduct an acid pedicure contributes to the active process of cell regeneration. Therefore, you should not be afraid to see a huge amount of exfoliating particles of skin on your heels over the next 5-7 days.

Feasible side effects

Sometimes after completing the procedure, girls may notice some side effects of acid manicure. And this despite the fact that they had no contraindications to the procedure. Most often, side effects are redness, swelling or unpleasant sensations at the place of application of the solution.

This may be due to the fact that they kept this product for too long on their legs, despite the exact time indicated in the instructions. If during the procedure, you felt tingling, burning or other unpleasant sensations at the place of application of the solution, then the procedure should be stopped ahead of time. If there are no unpleasant sensations, and you have too rough skin on your feet, then the holding time of the product on the legs can be slightly increased. However, you should not get carried away either.

The procedure is recommended no more than 1 time in 7-10 days. In this case, you can be sure that your legs will be perfectly smooth and well-groomed.

In conclusion, it is worth saying that acidic pedicure is a fairly simple, practical and at the same time safe and painless procedure for foot care. She has certain contraindications, it is important to consider before starting an acid pedicure.
