2018 Audi A1 review

The car is a subcompact front-wheel drive hatchback, which first appeared on the market in 2010. Starting in 2011, the sale of the 5-door version started, but in 2014 the Germans restyled, and subsequently stopped production of the 3-door hatchback.

• convenient and comfortable lounge.

The car is in great demand among European countries, and has not been updated for a long time, so the German concern announced that in 2018 it will present to the world a new, updated Audi A1 second-generation hatchback.

Exterior

The new version of the car has already begun road tests, which means that a photo of the 2018 hatchback leaked to the Internet. Despite the fact that it is hidden under a special film, experts were nevertheless able to carefully examine the car and highlight a number of noticeable changes.

The main modifications:

• new geometric shape of the main optics;
• body relief has become more rounded;
• the wheelbase has become a little larger, while the wheel arches have become more overall;
• increased tilt of the rear pillars;
• rear block headlights received a new structural form, and also received black accents;
• the radiator grill has become more rounded;
• tailgates received a number of original stamping lines.

Thanks to a number of new modifications, the car became more expressive and dynamic, received a sporting outlook, but at the same time was able to maintain the corporate identity characteristic of the German concern.

2018 Audi A1 interior

The main changes in the interior of the new subcompact hatchback:

• the upholstery is made of expensive and high-quality materials in gray shades;
• the dashboard is made of soft plastic, in addition, decorative inserts made of aluminum are used here;
• the dashboard is equipped with a large sun visor so that everything is perfectly visible regardless of the lighting;
• the steering wheel has a three-spoke design, while it is multifunctional and has a small size;
• the multimedia system monitor integrated in the center console extends slightly forward for easy viewing and use.

The basic equipment of the car will be equipped with only two rear row seats. A full-size back row for three will be provided only as an option for a fee.

Technical specifications

The main change in the new version of 2018 is a new compact platform, due to which it was possible to achieve increased dimensions of the car.

Parameters of the new 2018 Audi A1:

• length - 3970 mm;
• width - 1740 mm;
• height - 1420 mm;
• wheelbase - 2469 mm;
• ground clearance - 125 mm;
• trunk volume - 300 liters.

By changing the parameters of the car, the concern was able to increase comfort inside the car and increase the interior of the new hatchback. Although the car became larger, its weight remained not increased, but rather decreased slightly thanks to the hybrid body structure. The body was made of special grades of steel and durable aluminum.

Planned power units that will be used on the new hatchback:

• liter gasoline, 95 "horses";
• a motor with a volume of 1.4 liters and a power of 125 hp;
• gasoline ICE with a volume of 1.4 liters and a capacity of 125 horsepower;
• 1.4 and 1.6 liter diesel engines with capacities of 90 and 116 “horses”, respectively.

Transmission:

• 6-speed manual;
• 7-band robot.

Independent suspension, as well as dual-circuit brake system guarantee the car excellent maneuverability and good handling.

Start of sales and cost

Initially, the car will begin to be sold, as usual, in Europe. Most likely, the start of sales will be made in the winter of 2017. The starting price for the basic equipment will be about 21 thousand euros.

Previously, the car was not sold in the Russian Federation and was not in great demand on the domestic market. It is precisely because of this whether deliveries to Russia will be carried out is unknown, and the question remains open.
