2018 Nissan Micra Review

Mikra is a subcompact subcompact B-class that has been produced by the eminent Japanese concern since 1982. A five-seat hatchback is an actual car for all segments of the population. At the moment, in active sales there is the 4th generation of the car, which has been sold on the market since 2010. A few years later, namely in 2014, the company restyled the car, updating its exterior, especially in the bow. Unfortunately, the car was not presented on the domestic market and its sales were not carried out.

This passenger hatchback won the hearts of many in Europe, as evidenced by the number of its sales. Recently, the car regularly entered the top five best-selling cars in its class, so the Japanese concern announced the appearance of a new version. The fifth generation of the car was presented at the Paris auto show at the end of 2016.

The advantages of Nissan Micra, which distinguish its owners in the first place:

• compact dimensions;
• large, as for its class, salon;
• profitability;
• good handling and a high level of reliability.

The appearance of the hatchback

If you look closely at the exterior of the new car, you can immediately notice its slight resemblance to the Nissan Sway, released by the concern in 2015. The updated Mikra is equipped with a radiator grill familiar to the Japanese manufacturer, equipped with a V-shaped chevron made of chrome. The main headlights are quickly directed to the radiator grill and slightly come into contact with it. In the corners of the optics there are running lights, and the headlights themselves got a slightly narrower shape.

The front bumper turned out to be quite voluminous for the B-class, and the dynamic elements give the impression that the company tried to create a small car with a sporty exterior.

The profile of the car emphasizes its dynamic and sporty appearance thanks to the domed roof, large wheel arches of a round shape, as well as a kind of stamping line running along the car. The rear door handles are integrated into the window frames to improve the aerodynamics of the car, and the external rear-view mirrors have received a special streamlined shape and combined color.

At the rear, the car received an updated muscular and large-sized bumper, but the trunk door, on the contrary, is compact. Above the glass is a spoiler with additional brake lights mounted. The rear optics received an original shape resembling a boomerang located on the stern and wings of a small car.

The updated multi-function steering wheel in a three-spoke design has received a new shape, now its lower part is not round, as it was before, but flat, as in cars it is much more expensive and higher in class. The dashboard received an enlarged screen of a personal computer to display the necessary data in color mode. The familiar instrument panel has not changed its stylistic design; here, as before, there are two round tachometer and speedometer scales.

The upper part of the console is decorated with deflectors of the climate system, under which there is a small monitor of multimedia systems. Immediately below the screen there is a row of keys in order to control the functions and systems of the small car.

For interior trim, only expensive fabrics were used, as well as soft plastic, in addition, manufacturers said that there will be a large variation in color performance and everyone will be able to choose the interior for their personal tastes.

The main advantage of the updated version is a spacious interior and an increase in the overall level of comfort by increasing the size of the hatchback.

Dimensions of the updated version of 2018:

• length - 3990 mm, which is 215 mm more than the previous version;
• height - 1450 mm (-70 mm);
• width - 1740 mm (+77 mm);
• wheel base - 2530 mm (+75 mm);
• ground clearance - 150 mm;
• trunk volume 300 l (1005 liters - with the rear seats folded down).

Thanks to such changes, the manufacturer was able to achieve comfort, and also increased the space for a convenient location of the legs in the first row and in the second.

Technical specifications

This car has never been famous for a large selection of power units, the updated version was no exception. For picking a small car, 3 engines are provided with the following parameters:

• 0.9 liters, turbocharged gasoline, 90 “horses”;
• liter gasoline with a power of 73 hp.;
• one and a half liter diesel engine, whose power is 90 horsepower.

The only proposed transmission option is a 5-speed manual. The car will be equipped with an independent front suspension, a torsion semi-independent rear, the brakes in front of the car will be ventilated discs, but drum brakes will be used in the rear of the car.

Start of sales and cost

A car is being produced and assembled in France, as it is oriented towards the European automobile market. Sales started this summer, and the cost of the basic configuration amounted to a little more than 10 thousand euros.

Thanks to a large selection of design solutions in the interior of the car, everyone has the opportunity to choose a novelty to their taste, choosing the optimal color for the upholstery. At the moment, the car is not available in the domestic market and whether it will be sold in Russia is unknown.
