Review of the new 2018 Audi S5

The car is a sports version of the eminent Audi A5. For the first time, a sports coupe was presented in Geneva at a car exhibition in the not-so-distant 2007. Powerful engines and an original sports exterior immediately became characteristic features of the novelty.

A number of differences from the main model produced by a German company:

• aggressive view of the grille;
• exhaust pipe diffusers have a double view;
• four-wheel drive;
• engines of the sports version are much more powerful;
• spoiler has increased dimensions.

The last restyling of the model was carried out back in 2011 and the relevance of the model decreased, which is why the concern announced the creation of an updated version of the 2018 coupe.

Exterior

The appearance of the model is characterized by an original streamlined shape in order to improve the aerodynamics of the car and increase the coefficient of resistance to wind near the body (the coefficient is 0.26). In general, the front of the car is slightly raised up, but the back is slightly reduced, which forms a rapid and dynamic exterior of the model.

All the design changes and decisions that have been made cannot be called categorical, but they only further emphasized the sporty image of the car.

External changes in front:

• a modified radiator grille that has gained wide forms and two large longitudinal dividing lines;
• narrow front bumper;
• wide air intakes;
• large and embossed hood with aggressive stamping lines.

The profile of the car is not equipped with large overhangs, striking forward by the side parts of the body, which received decoration in the form of special ribs. The wheel arches of the round shape have become a bit larger and connected by wave-like lines, the wheels themselves received huge 19-inch wheels. Side mirrors received a special aerodynamic shape and silver color design, in addition, they are equipped with integrated direction indicators.

At the rear, a new generation compartment is adorned with double exhaust pipes that are located at the edges of the car, besides it is impossible not to notice the stylish rear lights that have a narrow shape and LED design. The rear fenders have become wider, and the usual 4 rings adorning everyone's eyes adorn the tailgate. In general, all changes were made in order to emphasize the modernity of the car and its sporty appearance.

Interior

Inside the car, almost all visible changes are also aimed at emphasizing the dynamics and sports direction of the car in every possible way. The steering wheel received a three-spoke multifunctional design, but its shape is not round, since the lower part was cut off and became horizontal. Armchairs have an original anatomical shape with high-quality lateral support.

Additional comfort in the cabin is guaranteed by expensive and high-quality materials that are used in interior decoration: genuine leather, aluminum, precious wood, carbon fiber, expensive fabric in the side pockets. The backlight received an LED design, and in total up to 30 shades are offered.

The instrument panel and center console received a single design. In the middle, a multimedia system monitor and large climate system deflectors are installed. Immediately below them, keys and switches are installed to control the climate control and other functions of the car. In front of the driver are two familiar instrument scales and an on-board computer.

2018 Audi S5 car dimensions:

• length - 4640 mm;
• height - 1370 mm;
• width - 1850 mm;
• ground clearance - 120 mm (-20 mm compared to the Audi A5);
• net volume of the luggage compartment - 450 liters;
• weight - 1750 kg (-60 in comparison with the basic version).

The coupe is equipped with a V6 power unit, its power is 355 horsepower, and the engine capacity is 3 liters. An 8-band robot is used as a transmission.

Start of sales

A new sports version of the car will appear on the market in Europe in December 2017. Its appearance is also expected in the Russian Federation, dealers have already begun to accept orders for the supply of coupes. The starting price for the basic configuration will be about four million rubles.
