2018 Range Rover Velar Review

An automobile company from Britain is engaged in the production and production of off-road vehicles. Already, the concern presented to the world a completely new model that will appear in sales in the near future. Velar is a mid-size crossover model of 2018. The official presentation of the car was made in the spring of 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show at the world auto show.

The novelty was for many a big surprise and a strong impression, since information about the appearance of a new model range was hidden until the last moment. Now the company is ready to launch full-scale production to attract a new stream of customers.

Exterior

The appearance of the car combines all the characteristic features of the company. The car received a windshield, tilted at a large angle, the rear windows also received a tilt in relation to the body. The wheel arches of the car turned out to be quite convex, the body roof line is slightly inclined, and the side rear-view mirrors received a special aerodynamic shape and black color.

Ahead of the car received an individual design that was carefully designed by a team from the UK and captivates with its look. The basis of the individuality will be the original radiator grille, as well as the narrow main optics in LED design. The bumper of the car turned out to be quite voluminous and massive, on the sides there are small holes for air intake with horizontal inserts.

At the rear, the car is equipped with a large bumper, LED lights, two large exhaust diffusers with chrome trim. The sporty image is emphasized by a wide spoiler over the glass of the tailgate with an integrated brake light, a dark body kit and an overlay between optics with the name of the concern.

The door handles of the car became special. When closed, they are not visible and it is impossible to tackle them, since they have a retractable system with special lighting, it looks amazing. Due to the original design of the car and carefully thought-out details, the concern has achieved not only a chic exterior, but also a strikingly low resistance coefficient - 0.32.

Interior

The interior design of the car is also at a high level, everything is quite organic, but with maximum comfort. It should also be noted that Velar has a rich technical equipment. For decoration here were used:

• leather;
• incredibly expensive premium fabric;
• polished aluminum.

The car has virtually no buttons, keys, switches, knobs and levers, since all major systems are controlled using special touch-type panels.

The steering wheel of the original performance received a multifunctional purpose, it is equipped with switches for cruise control and a multimedia audio system. The dashboard received two monitors, one of them 10-inch with a removable tilt angle for the multimedia complex. The second screen is slightly larger, the diagonal is 13 inches, it is located immediately behind the wheel and serves as an analogue of the dashboard.

The first row of seats received a special anatomical shape with original head restraints, high-quality lateral and lumbar support. It is also worth noting that the functionality of the seats just rolls over, here are provided: massage, electrical adjustment, heating and ventilation. The rear row of seats is also of a special anatomical shape, but less functional, only heating is provided here. Folding the seats in a ratio of 2/1/2, you can increase the amount of luggage from the base 560 to the amazing 1,735 liters. Salon involves comfortable LED lighting with the ability to choose one of ten offered colors.

Technical specifications

To equip the car, 5 engine options are offered:

• gasoline V4 and V6, engine volumes of 2 and 3 liters with a power of 250 and 380 horsepower, respectively;
• 4-cylinder diesel unit with a volume of 2 liters. The power of the turbocharged engine is 180 hp, the twin-turbo engine is 240 horses;
• V6 diesel, 3 liters, 300 horsepower turbocharged engine.

Regardless of which power unit is selected, the transmission does not imply a choice and is an 8-band robot.

Dimensions of the new 2018 model:

• length - 4800 mm;
• width - 1930 mm;
• height - 1670 mm;
• wheelbase - 2870 mm;
• ground clearance - 210 mm.

Start of sales and cost

Sales of the new Velar were launched in the UK in the summer of 2017, the cost of the basic version is 45 thousand, a maximum of 86 thousand pounds (50-90 thousand dollars).

In the near future, the car should appear in the Russian Federation. The cost of the minimum configuration is almost 4 million rubles, and the maximum configuration will cost its buyer 7.3 million rubles. In total, 8 trim levels will be offered for selection.
