2018 Renault Captur (Kaptur) review
Kaptur is a re-drive mini-crossover from a French company that was assembled on the basis of the 4th-generation Clio. The car was first presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013, and a crossover is being manufactured at a production site in Spain.
In Russia, the car appeared in the spring of 2016 and differed from the standard version in an increased body and ground clearance. The mini-crossover was designed on a BO platform, like most cars of this company. This is an independent model, the sales of which are primarily aimed at Eastern Europe and Russia.

Already this year, the company announced that it was preparing an updated version of the car of the sample in 2018, as the first generation received great success and popularity in the automotive market from the first day of sales.
Exterior
Tests of the new version of the car began at the beginning of 2017, which means that it is already possible to safely draw the first conclusions from the photos received. The exterior has received a new design, now the novelty is more stylish, expressive and modern.
First of all, a large radiator grill becomes visible, foglights located in trapezoidal niches with chrome trim. The front bumper received smooth transition lines. The body doors also received smooth stamping lines. The main optics of the LED design received a modern design and equipment, the design of the headlights is unusual and modern.
Wheel arches got a slightly convex shape, which creates an amazing external effect, as if you are facing a small SUV. Wheel disks got a peculiar design, 17-inch wheels are made in accordance with the requirements of modern fashion. The rear of the body was slightly raised in order to enhance the dynamism in the appearance of the novelty.
Although the car belongs to mini-crossovers, its appearance has received quite impressive and dynamic features. As before, the car received a two-tone color, which will not leave the crossover unnoticed.
Interior
The interior of the car retained all the positive features of its predecessor. The company will also offer modular design so that each customer can choose a salon for themselves. Trim will be two-tone, and there will be 6 basic types of design, depending on the design of the body.
The basic version will include a rear view camera, a multimedia system and an electronic rear-view mirror inside the car. The steering wheel, as before, will receive a three-spoke multifunctional design. There will also be keyless access, a high level of safety due to airbags and adjustable head restraints.
Specifications
Initially, only time-tested power units from a previous generation car will be offered to equip the car. Engines are:
- 1.5 liter diesel engine with a capacity of 90 horses;
- 0.9 and 1.2 - liter gasoline engines, whose power is 90 and 120 horsepower, respectively.
Offered cars are very economical, have good traction characteristics. The car is designed to move through the streets of the city, in the future it is expected to increase the range of ICE, which means that more powerful engines may appear.
Transmission:
- 5 and 6 speed manual gearboxes;
- 6 band robot.
According to the manufacturers, the car will assume 5 basic trim levels, their names will remain the same.
Start of sales
The car will be officially unveiled in Geneva during the next auto show.The start of sales of Renault Kaptur is planned for mid-2018, the approximate cost of the basic version will be about 17 thousand euros.
A mini-crossover will not be delivered to the territory of the Russian Federation, since in 2016 a special issue of cars for the domestic automobile market began. This model consists of approximately 60% of domestic parts and is unified with other models of the French company.
