2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado review

In September last year, the opening of a new automobile salon took place in Germany, during which the updated Prado SUV was presented to the world. Its release is officially scheduled for next year, 2018.

Engineers and designers of the company worked over every detail of the car for several years in order to present their customers a new, improved car that could win the hearts of citizens who are picky for off-road vehicles. A number of major changes:

The fourth generation of the legend, which was born in 2009, the last restyling of which was carried out back in 2013, is currently being produced and sold. It was precisely because of the long period of invariance that it was no surprise to anyone that the Japanese concern is preparing an updated version of the SUV, dating to 2018 year. In fact, this new product will not be considered a new, fifth generation, but will only serve as the second restyling in order to attract a new audience of buyers and fans.

Exterior

In comparison with the 2013 version, they remained the same:

• frame design;
• clearance - 205 and 215 mm for 3-oh and 5-door versions, respectively;
• four-wheel drive;
• differential lock system.

Externally, the car has become more aggressive and looks very dynamic, each completed element can be described as masculine power and readiness for difficulties and trials. Due to the modifications, the company was able to achieve not only a new style in appearance, but also significantly improved the geometric cross-country ability of the SUV.

The main modifications:

• rear and front bumpers have a new shape;
• new radiator grill with vertical sections;
• updated optics;
• taillights have changed their shape;
• Due to the stamping lines, the concern has achieved better maneuverability and control of cars on the road.

Particular attention should be paid to the fact that the SUV received a multi-function steering wheel in a three-spoke design, as well as a new optitron dashboard. On the center console is a small 8-inch touch screen with which you can control a number of functions of the jeep, as well as its proprietary navigation system and multimedia systems.

At the buyer's choice there are three colors for interior trim: strict black, a mixture of brown and black, light beige.

It was absolutely expected that each element of the car has an exact, rather even perfect fit, and the interior elements themselves are made only of high-quality and expensive materials. The seats received a number of possibilities and adjustments so that even the longest and longest journey was comfortable enough for the driver.

Details that can please a demanding buyer:

• ventilation of the front seats;
• high-quality lateral support;
• 3-zone climate control;
• huge trunk in size.

Technical Equipment

The updated version of the car, even in the basic configuration, will be equipped with a modern automatic piloting function. It includes:

• response to a sharp appearance of a person in front of a car;
• accident and collision warning system;
• dynamic cruise control;
• automatic control system for dead zones during parking.

For cold and snowy Russia, the car will be equipped with a number of additional trifles, including heated seats, a windshield, washer nozzles and exterior mirrors.

The engines that are offered for installation on an SUV remained the same:

• gasoline engine, 2.7 liters, 163 horses;
• 4-liter gasoline with a power of 282 hp.;
• 2.8-liter turbodiesel with a power of 177 horsepower.

The transmission is a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. In addition, two sports modes and a traction control system (on more expensive trim levels) will be available.

Start of sales and cost

Since the car has already been officially presented, its sales in the Russian Federation can be expected in the near future. Unfortunately, there is no information about pricing in the domestic market, so the cost of a car remains a mystery to everyone.

Making an assumption on the technical equipment of the car, we can assume that the price of the basic configuration will be about 2.5 million rubles, and for the top version you will have to pay 3.5 million rubles or even more.
