Holidays and weekends in 2019 in Russia
In order for each working person to be able to effectively plan his time, the Ministry of Labor annually draws up a schedule of holidays and weekends for the next year. This allows you to pre-calculate favorable periods for holidays, travel and other events.
Holidays
Schedules of holidays and working days for each year are different from each other. This is due to the fact that basically the location of the holidays is floating, and depends on the decision made by the government. Usually, non-working days are significant historical dates for the country, state, professional, religious and international holidays.
Thus, in 2019, Russian citizens will celebrate 8 such holidays. These include:
- New Year;
- Nativity;
- Defender of the Fatherland Day;
- International Women's Day;
- May Day;
- Victory Day;
- Russia Day, celebrated on June 12;
- National Unity Day, which is celebrated on November 4.
Work days
For the period of New Year and May holidays, the government prepared pleasant surprises for the Russians. For example, they were given more than 1 week to celebrate the New Year. Thus, it is only necessary to start work on January 9th.
For those who work according to the schedule of the 40-hour week, pleasant additions are provided. According to the law, if a holiday is preceded by a worker, then it is reduced by exactly 1 hour.
Weekend transfer
In addition to pleasant, working surprises can also wait. This may include some days that will have to be worked out. In 2019, January 9 will need to work out for the previously spent January 5. For January 6, we will work on January 10. And the working day from February 23 is postponed to February 25. For some, this may be an unpleasant surprise.
Long weekend
Every week working in our country have 2 days off. This is enough to relax. And some even go on short trips. But to organize large-scale leisure for yourself, it will take more time. Using the holidays, you can get an extended weekend, when the government gives the opportunity to rest 3 or more days in a row.
Such holidays are possible if the holiday date precedes or follows immediately after the calendar weekend. In addition to the New Year holidays, we get such a mini vacation, which often lasts more than 1 week.
In 2019, such winter holidays will stretch for as long as 8 days. This is enough for relaxation and travel. Therefore, January is traditionally considered the shortest working month throughout the year.
In addition to the New Year weekend, in 2019 there will be 2 more extended weekends: from March 8 to 10 and from November 2 to 4. It is possible that in early May we can receive such a gift.
Regional Holidays
In different regions of Russia, this schedule may vary slightly. So in some republics, historical, national and religious holidays can join national holidays, which are weekends.
For example, in regions where the population predominantly professes Islam (Tatarstan, Chechnya, Bashkortostan, Ingushetia, etc.), there are other public holidays:
- Eid al-Adha. The holiday is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Zul-hiji. This day marks the end of the Hajj in Mecca. It is celebrated annually on different days, since the Islamic calendar differs from the Gregorian and is associated with the lunar phases.
- Eid al Adha. It is celebrated on the first day of the month of shavval. The holiday is the end of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims.
The indigenous inhabitants of Yakutia annually celebrate Ysyakh - a summer holiday associated with the revival of nature. It is customary to celebrate in the period from June 10 to 25.The specific date is determined by special decree.
In Kalmykia and Buryatia, an additional day off is associated with the onset of spring and the Buddhist triumph of Tsagan Sar. It is celebrated on the first day of the new moon of the coming year.
Residents of some republics of the Russian Federation do not work on the day their region is founded.
Working hours
In addition to the dates that are reserved for work and leisure, the planned calendar of working hours is indicated in the production calendar. Thus, they calculate the number of hours that each employee must work on the basis of the standard week (40 hours) minus holiday dates that do not need to be worked out and legally established shortened shifts.
In 2019, out of 365 days, each worker will have to work out 247, 6 of which will be shorter by 1 hour. After not complicated calculations, it turns out that everyone needs to spend 1970 hours at the workplace.
Weekends are vital for every person. At this time, you can fully relax from their work responsibilities and gain strength. Therefore, extraordinary weekends and extended vacations become an excellent bonus for all employed citizens. At this time, they can plan any activities for which usually there is not enough time, for example, travel.
World practice
According to Russian law, a 5-day working week of 40 working hours has been adopted in our country. Many world experts are sure that in the conditions of the development of modern society, the duration of the working week in the world will decrease over time. Scientists have calculated that a 25-hour work week is optimal for humans. It is this schedule that allows you to fully work and relax.
In the United States, its duration today is 33 hours. And the Netherlands, where people work no more than 27-30 hours a week, can be called the world record holder for short working hours.
