DIY 2018 New Year souvenirs: exciting ideas and turn-based workshops

The closer the New Year holidays, the more often we are faced with the question - what to present to our friends and relatives? And, of course, a handmade souvenir can be the best present. After all, this is not just a symbolic gesture, but also an opportunity to express your imagination.

A ball with the snow

Such a gift can be called original and impressive. It’s worth a little ball over and you can enjoy watching artificial snow slowly fall to the bottom.

To make such a souvenir, you will need:

• a jar of glass;
• glycerol;
• boiled water at room temperature;
• alcohol;
• waterproof glue;
• pin;
• glue gun;
• polymer clay;
• Shine
• auxiliary elements.

Polymer clay is needed for sculpting figures. If desired, a similar finished figure can be bought at the store. A fairy-tale house, a Christmas tree, fairy-tale characters, etc. will do. In our example, it will be a snowman, which we will make on our own. To do this, from a piece of clay, you need to roll small balls for the trunk and arms.

When making a snowman, always compare its size with the size of the can itself. The head of the figure will be significantly smaller than its body.

Using a pin, connect two circles - the trunk and head. It is important that the pin does not stick out. The excess is removed with the help of nippers. If you did not have a pin, then you can safely replace it with a toothpick or stick both balls with a glue gun.

Usually when working with polymer clay, special tools are used. But if you do not have them, then at hand you can always find suitable items that can replace them. Using a toothpick or the edge of the kitty, you need to make 2 notches for the eyes. After that, black beads or small beads are inserted here. Similarly makes a groove for the snowman's mouth.

 

The snowman must have a nose-carrot. Therefore, we blind it of polymer clay. To get a carrot shade, you can mix a piece of red and yellow clay. Sometimes clay is sold only white, and in the kit are dyes, which then dye the material. To do this, a little dye is applied to a piece of clay of the right size and kneads well with your hands until a uniform shade is obtained

In the next step, the snowman will need arms and legs. For the legs, we roll up balls of a suitable size and slightly flatten them on both sides.

To make hands, we roll sausages from clay and give them the shape of a drop, bending a little.

You can decorate a snowman in various ways. For example, give him a little candy in his hand. To do this, we roll several thin sausages from multi-colored clay, and slightly rolling them, twist them together. Then it remains only to give the workpiece the shape of a candy. Additionally, it can be coated with gloss.

The snowman will look more nice if it is additionally decorated with accessories. For example, we’ll make him a hat and a scarf. For a scarf, he makes 2 multi-colored sausages, which are then weaved in one direction and 2 more in the other. It remains only to connect both parts to each other.

In the same way, you can make a hat by wrapping the blank around the head. From small sticks, you can make a pompom.

It remains only to make recesses for buttons. If such a figure is made larger, then it can be used to decorate the holiday tree.

Now we begin to make the ball directly. First, cover the inside with waterproof glue. It can be a glue gun or superglue. After that, a snowman figurine is glued to the lid, and the space around is decorated with sparkles or other decor.

We use glitters as snow.It is advisable that they be large, as the small ones are too light and may not sink to the bottom.

Now you need to fill the future ball with liquid. For this, glycerin is mixed with water in equal amounts. But keep in mind that after we plunge inside the snowman, the liquid level rises. To get a better liquid, add a little alcohol here at the rate of 1 tablespoon of glycerin - 1 tablespoon of alcohol.

Now it remains to immerse our snowman and close the lid tightly. Check that liquid does not leak out of the can. If everything is fine, then it remains to process all the cracks with a glue gun. This will prevent accidental unwinding of the can.

Instead of a snowman, you can make any figure to fill the ball.

Felt puppy

No less original gift will be a hand-made New Year's symbol - a little puppy. It can be hung on a Christmas tree or used as a keychain.

To make it, you need such materials:

• felt suitable shades;
• synthetic winterizer used as a filler;
• a needle with a thread of a suitable color;
• beads;
• scissors.

The dog template needs to be printed and details made of felt. Please note that all parts must be paired.

Sew dark spots onto the back of the animal.

Sew together the parts for the ears with a stitch seam. Do the same with the tail.

Sew all parts of the dog. If you plan to hang it somewhere later, then you need to make a rope on your back.

Gradually fill the dog with a padding polyester. To keep the puppy soft, do not fill it too tightly.

It remains to make eyes out of beads and embroider the nose.

Other souvenirs can also be sewn.

Mug with a dog

If you want your present to be not only beautiful, but also useful, you can decorate the mug with the figures of the owner of the year.

To do this, take:

• a white mug without a picture;
• polymer clay;
• heat-resistant adhesive;
• Stacks
• toothpicks.

First, on the mug you need to draw the outline of the future figure. Further from clay, using snacks or other improvised materials, to blind the dog. Ready figure, bake in the oven until hardened at 120 degrees. If you had white clay, then you need to decorate it.

Wash, dry and degrease the bas-relief. Using heat-resistant glue, stick the figure to the mug. You can use such a cup no earlier than in a day.

Thus, the mug can be decorated with any figures.

Glass with a frosty pattern

Thus, you can decorate a glass, a vase and other transparent dishes. To do this, you will need:

• any utensils made of transparent glass (vase, glass, glass, can, etc.);
• leaves (natural or artificial);
• glass etching paste (it can be replaced with a spray that provides imitation);
• water soluble glue or spray to fix;
• alcohol.

The glass container must be degreased by wiping it with alcohol. Using glue, you need to glue the prepared leaves. Treat the surface with a glass etching spray or spray. It is important that they do not hit surrounding objects. After some time, peel off the leaves, and rinse the glass container with water.
